Second time I’ve used Ben and he was excellent again. I had a leaky hot-water connection to my washer and water was spraying everywhere (a DIY attempt made it worse). Ben immediately understood what was happening, gave me a quote on the spot, and the final price matched the quote exactly. He arrived right at 7:00am and fixed the issue quickly and professionally. He’s been a plumber for 15+ years and owns the company, so it’s great working directly with the owner/master plumber. Reasonable pricing, great communication, and quality work. Highly recommend. 1st review Ben was fantastic. He was quick to respond, up front about his pricing and on-time. I was very impressed by his knowledge and his willingness to do a better than good job. Would I hire him again? Absolutely. A good guy, a good job, and good pricing. Just what you’re looking for in a plumber. And he cleaned up after himself!
The team is great, and the owner/operator Harley, answered my call and set up a time with me on a Sunday! We discussed my hot water heater, and they will also handle my other plumbing needs in the future, including ongoing water heater maintenance.
Our son just bought his first house and wouldn’t you know it, the first night we spent there, the sewer line backed up and overflowed. On a Sunday morning, we called Whitestone Plumbing. We randomly picked them because they were close and it looked like the owner was actually the person doing the work. In fact, Harley(Ben), the owner answered our call and said he would be there in less than 2 hours. Remember, this is Sunday morning. He arrived early, did not charge extra for a weekend call and quickly found the issue using state of the art equipment. He got us up and running quickly and scheduled a day to come back and fix the problem (roots in the sewer line). That was done just like he said he would and we didn’t even have to be there. Harley was very professional, did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it and we feel his prices were very fair. We are from a small town and have grown to expect this kind of service. We never expected to find this in a large metropolitan area, but that’s exactly what we got with Whitestone Plumbing. We highly recommend this business and will not hesitate to call again for our plumbing needs.
I called Whitestone Plumbing for an urgent job for my leaking main line. They showed up in 1 hr and fixed the issue professionally! Great service.
This was the best experience I’ve ever had with a plumber. I accidentally broke my PRV valve while trying to adjust my home’s water pressure and found myself in a bind on a Sunday. Whitestone Plumbing responded quickly and arrived within an hour of my call. The plumber was knowledgeable, efficient, and fixed the issue right away. The pricing was very reasonable, and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend Whitestone Plumbing to anyone looking for a reliable, honest, and professional plumber.
Ben from Whitestone Plumbing was really nice, very attentive and responsive. He got here and was in and out in maybe 20 minutes. It was such an easy experience, and he was just a really nice person overall. He took care of the issue right away and even mentioned he wouldn’t charge me if he wasn’t able to unclog my toilet, which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend Whitestone Plumbing!
Ben was amazing! He showed up exactly when he said he would. Was courteous and professional and answered all my questions. He was able to clear a drain that someone else wasn't able to clear. He located the issue (my AC drains to that sink!), worked hard to clear the clog, then showed me how I could do maintenance to keep it clear. VERY fair pricing as well. Would definitely call him again!
Ben helped me cleaned the washer drainage today. He is punctual , professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. It’s rare to find someone this reliable and skilled. Highly recommend to anyone in need of a trustworthy plumber! I couldn’t be happier with the service I received!
Ben is fantastic! Called on a Sunday afternoon and he was able to arrive within 30 minutes. And he also gave me a quote over the phone after I described my problem. Fast and reliable!
Best plumber ever. My instance Whitestone was 1/2 of the quotes i got from 3 others. Previous home owners had installed a water softener and done the piping themselves. It was poorly done, overly complicated and looked like hammered crap. I sent Whitestone pics of the spaghetti install. Whitestone replaced and upgraded the pvc nightmare to copper. As an aside, i don't normally trust service repair persons to be there when I am not home. I had no issues with Whitestone. Would easily give them the key and let them work when I wasn't home. Also, they cleaned up their mess. I have had electricians and plumbers make a mess, leave it, and insist it's not their problem. Whitestone treated my home like their own.
Ben is FANTASTIC! Showed up promptly, was reasonable with his pricing and did high quality work. I already know who I am calling for my next repairs and projects. Great personable guy doing what is right by his customers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Great experience with Ben! He came out at the end of the day to address a leaking water heater. He got here quickly and did quality work. Highly recommend!
Whitestone is awesome! Our shower would not turn off we had to shut the water to our house off and needed someone to come out immediately. They came out right away, fixed the problem, and were kind and efficient! Highly recommend!
I had the please to have Ben with WHITESTONE PLUMBING come out to my house to see what caused the water leak I had. He conducted his inspection and provided me with an estimate. I will come back to him to replace my water heater. Ben is very professional, polite, well dressed and easy going guy. I recommend highly. Linda
Fantastic experience. I had a plumbing emergency on Sunday and they were able to come out immediately. They did great work, were super friendly, and had a reasonable price. I love supporting local businesses and plan on using Whitestone Plumbing for all my future plumbing needs!!
Had a small indoor plumbing issue, and despite the lack of urgency, Whitestone Plumbing was able to get us in same day, within a few hours of calling. They gave us a very fair price. Our issue was fixed in minutes. I could not be happier; would recommend and will use again in the future.
Fantastic service. Called on a Friday afternoon and was at the front door in less than 30 minutes. Fixed my problem quickly and effectively with great communication. Would definitely recommend. Will be using Whitestone in the future.
10/10 top notch service from a locally owned business. Had an emergency water heater replacement after our old one went kaput. Ben is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, honest and kind. He gave us great tips on proper maintenance to get the most out of our new water heater and was happy to answer all of our questions. He made sure all questions were answered before he left. We are very confident with Ben’s work and will continue doing business with Whitestone plumbing might we need them. Thanks again!
Had an RPZ crack by the outside spigot which started dumping water all over my yard. I called Whitestone Plumbing and they immediately came out to stop the leak. That same day they had a replacement part ordered and scheduled for a couple days later. I couldn't be happier with the service.
I called about a replacing a faucet in my spare bathroom. Ben diagnosed the problem and offered a variety of solutions. I would use Whitestone for any job big or small.
Great communication, very prompt service timing and good pricing. Thank you again for your help!
We were experiencing really low water pressure in our master bathroom faucets, and Whitestone came out the next business day. Within an hour, the problem was fixed without using any of the parts they thought might be needed. Very honest, reliable, and happy to answer other plumbing questions we had!
Ben was awesome in about every way! I had a pipe freeze and he came right on over and had it fixed in no time. Highly recommended!!!!!!
We had an outdoor pipe crack during the recent freeze and had water gushing out causing a flood in our yard. I'm so glad we called Whitestone plumbing. Having your water shut off for any period of time can be awful but thanks to them we were up and running in no time. The service was excellent and they were so friendly and professional. I would highly recommend this company and will definitely use them for our future needs. Thanks again so much for taking care of our family when we were in such a bind.
Great service, fast, and keeps you up to date. I definately would recomend to a friend.

Water Heater Expansion Tank in Cedar Park, TX
Thermal expansion occurs every time your water heater cycles on to warm the water for your household. In a closed plumbing system, this expanding water has nowhere to go, which causes the pressure to rise rapidly throughout the house. An expansion tank acts as a shock absorber by providing a dedicated space for this extra water to enter safely. We install these tanks on the cold water supply line leading into your water heater for maximum effectiveness. This simple addition prevents the “creeping” pressure that can wear out your faucets and toilet valves prematurely. Our team ensures the tank is sized correctly for the specific capacity of your water heating unit. You will enjoy a more stable plumbing system that is protected from the invisible force of expanding water.
Modern plumbing codes in Cedar Park require expansion tanks for any home equipped with a backflow preventer or a pressure-reducing valve. These devices create a “closed system” where water cannot push back out toward the city main during the heating process. Without an expansion tank, the high pressure can force your water heater’s temperature and pressure (T&P) relief valve to leak. We use high-quality, durable tanks that are designed to handle the thermal cycles of a busy residential household. Our technicians ensure the internal rubber bladder is pre-charged to match your home’s specific static water pressure. Proper calibration is the key to ensuring the tank provides the protection your home requires. We take the time to do the technical setup correctly for your long-term peace of mind.
A failing expansion tank can often go unnoticed until it leads to a more serious plumbing emergency in your home. If the internal bladder ruptures, the tank will fill completely with water and lose its ability to absorb thermal expansion. You might notice your T&P relief valve dripping or a sudden increase in plumbing leaks at your fixtures and joints. We can quickly test the integrity of your current tank by checking the air valve for signs of water intrusion. Replacing a waterlogged tank is an affordable way to prevent a catastrophic water heater tank failure or a pipe burst. Our team provides honest recommendations on when a replacement is necessary for the safety of your property. We prioritize these preventative repairs to save you money on future restoration costs.
Proper mounting and support are essential for the safety and longevity of your water heater expansion tank. Because these tanks can become very heavy if they ever fail and fill with water, they must be securely braced. We use professional-grade straps and brackets to ensure the tank does not put excessive weight on your copper or PEX piping. Our technicians follow all manufacturer specifications to ensure the tank is oriented correctly for optimal air and water balance. We also check the condition of the surrounding fittings and replace any corroded parts during the installation process. A tidy and secure installation is a hallmark of the 5-star service we provide to our neighbors. You can trust our expertise to handle the structural and mechanical aspects of the job with precision.
Integrating an expansion tank also helps protect your expensive water-using appliances from high-pressure surges. Dishwashers, washing machines, and ice makers all have delicate internal valves that can be damaged by thermal expansion. By stabilizing the pressure, you extend the operational life of these machines and reduce the risk of a flood. We evaluate your entire plumbing system to ensure the expansion tank is providing the maximum benefit for your home. Our 20 years of experience allow us to identify the best placement for the tank in your utility room or garage. We value the proactive steps that keep your home running smoothly and your utility bills predictable. Professional protection is a smart investment for every modern homeowner in the Central Texas region.
Thermal expansion can also lead to a noticeable decrease in the lifespan of your actual water heater tank itself. The constant “breathing” or stretching of the tank’s inner lining as pressure rises and falls can cause the glass lining to crack. Once the lining is compromised, the steel tank begins to rust and will eventually leak or burst entirely. An expansion tank minimizes this physical stress by keeping the internal pressure within a safe and consistent range. We provide expert advice on how to monitor your system’s pressure to avoid these preventable infrastructure failures. Our goal is to help you get the full twenty years of life out of your water heating equipment. We take pride in the technical excellence of our safety upgrades for local families.

What Makes A Top Rated Water Heater Expansion Tank
A top-rated water heater expansion tank service is defined by technical precision and a commitment to home safety codes. The best plumbers perform a pressure test on the home’s water system to ensure the tank’s air charge is perfectly calibrated. Reliability is key, which means the installation includes secure mounting brackets and high-quality fittings to prevent future leaks or structural stress. Clear and upfront pricing ensures the customer feels respected and understands the preventative value of the project. A 5-star service provider is licensed and insured, meeting all local Cedar Park building codes and safety regulations. Technicians should be able to explain the physics of thermal expansion in plain language so the homeowner understands the risk. Good communication helps the customer recognize the signs of a failing tank, such as a dripping relief valve. A professional job also includes a clean workspace and a thorough check of the water heater’s temperature and pressure settings. Finally, a local owner who stands behind the work ensures the accountability that homeowners deserve for their safety upgrades.
Most Common Water Heater Expansion Tank Questions
Protecting your home from thermal expansion is a vital part of plumbing maintenance that leads to many technical questions. Here are the most common inquiries we receive regarding water heater expansion tanks in our local area.
You need an expansion tank to prevent the dangerous buildup of pressure that occurs when water is heated in a closed system. As water heats up, it expands in volume, but because water is incompressible, it exerts massive pressure on your pipes and heater. In many homes in Cedar Park, a pressure-reducing valve or check valve prevents this extra water from flowing back to the city. Without an expansion tank, this pressure has nowhere to go and can cause your water heater tank to rupture. We provide professional installation of these tanks to act as a safety “overflow” for your plumbing system. Trusting a professional ensures your home is protected from the invisible force of thermal expansion.
High pressure caused by thermal expansion can also lead to frequent leaks at your faucets, showerheads, and toilet valves. You might notice your water heater’s safety relief valve (T&P valve) dripping water onto the floor as it tries to release excess pressure. An expansion tank absorbs this volume before the pressure reaches a critical level, preventing unnecessary wear on your fixtures. Our technicians ensure the tank is sized correctly for your specific water heater to provide maximum protection for your home. We use our 20 years of experience to identify if your home is a “closed system” that requires this essential safety upgrade. Keeping your plumbing pressure stable is a key part of maintaining a safe and efficient residential infrastructure.
Ignoring the need for an expansion tank can significantly shorten the life of your water heater and lead to expensive repairs. The constant stress on the tank’s internal lining can cause it to crack and rust much faster than it should. Most modern building codes and manufacturer warranties require an expansion tank to ensure the safety of the installation. We offer free estimates and clear pricing for the professional installation of high-quality expansion tanks in the local community. Our 5-star service commitment means we prioritize these safety features to give you peace of mind regarding your home’s water heating. You can count on us for honest advice and elite technical care for every plumbing project. Trust Whitestone Plumbing to keep your home safe from high-pressure plumbing failures.
The most common sign of a failed expansion tank is a dripping temperature and pressure (T&P) relief valve on your water heater. If the tank’s internal bladder has ruptured, the tank will fill completely with water and can no longer absorb thermal expansion. You can test the tank by gently tapping on the top and bottom with a metal object like a screwdriver. A healthy tank should sound hollow at the top (where the air is) and dull at the bottom (where the water is). If the entire tank sounds dull and heavy, it is likely “waterlogged” and needs to be replaced by a professional plumber. We provide fast and reliable diagnostics for all water heater safety components for our neighbors.
Another way to check the tank is to briefly depress the air valve (Schrader valve) located at the top of the unit. If water squirts out of the valve instead of air, it confirms that the internal bladder has failed and the tank is ruined. Our technicians carry the specialized gauges needed to check the air pressure and ensure the tank is functioning correctly for you. We also look for signs of rust or corrosion on the exterior of the tank and the connecting fittings. A failed expansion tank puts your entire plumbing system at risk of high-pressure damage and sudden leaks. We provide honest recommendations on whether a simple pressure adjustment or a full replacement is needed for your safety. Trusting a professional ensures the test is performed safely without damaging the valve or your pipes.
If your expansion tank feels unusually heavy or is sagging on its mounts, it is likely full of water and needs immediate attention. The extra weight can put dangerous stress on your home’s water lines and lead to a major pipe failure in your utility room. We use professional mounting techniques and high-quality tanks to ensure a secure and reliable setup for every client. Our 5-star service includes a thorough check of your home’s static water pressure to ensure the new tank is charged correctly. We value the proactive steps that prevent plumbing emergencies and protect your home’s value in Cedar Park. You can rely on our 20 years of experience to handle any water heater safety concerns with skill and precision. Ben Helton ensures that every Cedar Park homeowner receives elite care and reliable results on every visit.
A typical water heater expansion tank has a service life of about five to ten years, depending on your home’s water quality and pressure. The internal rubber bladder eventually becomes brittle or loses its ability to hold an air charge over many years of thermal cycles. High home water pressure or excessive heat can also shorten the lifespan of the tank’s internal components significantly. We recommend having your expansion tank inspected by a professional plumber every time you have your water heater serviced. Catching a failing tank early is much cheaper than dealing with the high-pressure damage it can cause to your plumbing. We provide clear, honest pricing for the replacement of aging tanks to keep your home secure for you.
Local water conditions in Central Texas, including mineral content and chlorine levels, can also affect the longevity of the tank’s internal seal. If you notice that your water heater is more than five years old, it is a good time to have the expansion tank checked. Our technicians can perform a quick and non-invasive test to verify that the tank is still protecting your home correctly. We use high-quality, professional-grade tanks that are designed for the specific demands of residential water heating systems. Our 5-star service includes helping you track the age of your plumbing safety devices for a worry-free home. You can count on us for honest answers and elite technical care for every water heater project you have. Trust Whitestone Plumbing for the most reliable and thorough safety inspections in the local area.
Proper installation and pressure matching are the most important factors in getting the longest life out of your expansion tank. If a tank is installed with the wrong air charge, the bladder will be under constant stress and will fail much faster than intended. We take the time to measure your home’s static pressure and calibrate the tank perfectly during the initial installation. Our team also ensures that the tank is properly supported to prevent physical damage to the joints and connections. We stand behind our work with a commitment to quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction on every single job. You can rely on our 20 years of experience to help you protect your home’s infrastructure for the long term. Trust us for the best professional guidance and service in the Central Texas region.
Generally, tankless water heaters do not require an expansion tank because they do not store a large volume of hot water. Thermal expansion occurs when a fixed volume of water is heated and has nowhere to go; tankless units heat water on the fly as it travels to the faucet. However, if your home has a specialized hot water recirculation system, an expansion tank may still be necessary for your safety. These systems maintain a loop of hot water that can expand and create pressure even with a tankless unit. We can evaluate your specific plumbing layout to determine if an expansion tank is required for your home. Our goal is to ensure your system is fully code-compliant and protected from all pressure-related risks.
If you are switching from a tank to a tankless unit, we can often remove the old expansion tank and simplify your plumbing layout. Our technicians are experts in both traditional and modern water heating technologies and provide honest recommendations for your home. We follow all manufacturer specifications to ensure your tankless installation is secure and reliable for your family. If your home has a pressure-reducing valve, we check to ensure that the tankless unit’s internal safety features are adequate. Every home in Cedar Park is unique, and we take a customized approach to every water heating project we undertake. You can rely on our 20 years of experience to provide the most accurate and professional advice available today. We are dedicated to delivering elite technical care and honest service on every service call we make.
Some larger tankless systems or those integrated with hydronic heating may still utilize small expansion vessels for pressure management. We can identify these specific requirements and ensure the correct safety components are installed and maintained for you. Our 5-star service commitment includes helping our customers understand the technical needs of their modern plumbing systems. We provide clear pricing and professional installation for all types of water heating safety equipment in the local community. Ben Helton ensures that every client receives a personalized and professional service experience on every visit to their property. We value the trust you place in us and work hard to maintain our reputation for excellence in the plumbing trade. You can count on Whitestone Plumbing for the most reliable and transparent plumbing advice in Central Texas.
A water heater expansion tank should always be installed on the cold water supply line between the shut-off valve and the water heater. This placement ensures that the tank can absorb the expanding water before it creates pressure in the rest of your home’s plumbing. It must be located on the “downstream” side of any check valves or pressure-reducing valves to function correctly for your safety. Our technicians ensure the tank is accessible for future maintenance and pressure checks throughout its service life. We follow all local Cedar Park building codes regarding the positioning and support of these essential safety devices. Proper placement is the key to ensuring the tank provides the protection your home requires from thermal expansion.
The tank can be mounted either horizontally or vertically, depending on the space available in your utility room or garage. However, vertical mounting with the water connection at the bottom is often preferred to prevent air from becoming trapped in the water side. We use professional-grade brackets and straps to ensure the tank is secure regardless of its orientation in your home. Our team takes care to keep the installation tidy and ensures that it doesn’t block access to other plumbing valves or controls. We prioritize a clean and organized layout for all of our water heater safety upgrades for our neighbors. You can trust our expertise to find the most efficient and secure location for your new expansion tank. Quality craftsmanship at the connection points protects your home from hidden moisture damage and leaks.
If your water heater is located in an attic or a finished space, proper support and drainage are even more critical for your property. We ensure the expansion tank is securely braced to the home’s framing to prevent it from falling if it ever becomes waterlogged. Our technicians also check that the water heater’s drain pan is large enough to handle any potential drips from the safety valves. We provide a 5-star experience by addressing all the potential risks associated with water heating systems in different home layouts. Our 20 years of experience allow us to navigate these challenging installations with confidence and skill for our clients. Trust Whitestone Plumbing for the most professional and considerate approach to your home’s safety infrastructure. We are dedicated to providing the best plumbing and safety solutions for the local community.
A rattling or vibrating noise from your expansion tank usually indicates that it is not properly supported or that there is an issue with the water pressure. If the mounting straps are loose, the tank can vibrate against the wall or the water heater every time a faucet is turned on. This vibration is not only annoying but can also lead to fatigue in your pipe joints and cause leaks over time. We can quickly secure the tank and ensure it is properly braced to eliminate these noises and protect your plumbing. Our technicians check all of your pipe supports as part of our comprehensive service to ensure a quiet home environment for you. We provide clear, honest pricing for all of our noise-reduction and stabilization services in Cedar Park.
Vibration can also be caused by “water hammer,” which occurs when the high-pressure water surges through the system after a valve closes. If your expansion tank is waterlogged, it can no longer act as a shock absorber for these pressure spikes. This causes the energy of the moving water to shake the pipes and the tank itself throughout the house. We test the air charge and the integrity of the internal bladder to ensure your tank is still functioning correctly for your safety. Replacing a failed tank is often the most effective way to silence a noisy and unstable plumbing system for a homeowner. Our 5-star service includes a thorough diagnostic of your home’s pressure levels to find the root cause of the noise. Trusting a professional ensures your home remains quiet and your infrastructure stays secure for the long term.
If the rattling is coming from inside the tank, it may indicate that a internal part has broken loose or that mineral scale has accumulated. This is common in older tanks that have reached the end of their service life and are no longer providing adequate protection. We provide honest recommendations on whether a simple adjustment or a new professional installation is the best value for your property. Our team uses high-quality materials and professional techniques to ensure a stable and quiet result on every job. Ben Helton oversees our quality standards to ensure every Cedar Park client is satisfied with the results of our visit. You can rely on our 20 years of experience to handle any plumbing noise or safety concerns with skill and professionalism. We are the trusted experts for residential water heater services in the local area.
