Second time I’ve used Ben and he was excellent again. I had a leaky hot-water connection to my washer and water was spraying everywhere (a DIY attempt made it worse). Ben immediately understood what was happening, gave me a quote on the spot, and the final price matched the quote exactly. He arrived right at 7:00am and fixed the issue quickly and professionally. He’s been a plumber for 15+ years and owns the company, so it’s great working directly with the owner/master plumber. Reasonable pricing, great communication, and quality work. Highly recommend. 1st review Ben was fantastic. He was quick to respond, up front about his pricing and on-time. I was very impressed by his knowledge and his willingness to do a better than good job. Would I hire him again? Absolutely. A good guy, a good job, and good pricing. Just what you’re looking for in a plumber. And he cleaned up after himself!

Our son just bought his first house and wouldn’t you know it, the first night we spent there, the sewer line backed up and overflowed. On a Sunday morning, we called Whitestone Plumbing. We randomly picked them because they were close and it looked like the owner was actually the person doing the work. In fact, Harley(Ben), the owner answered our call and said he would be there in less than 2 hours. Remember, this is Sunday morning. He arrived early, did not charge extra for a weekend call and quickly found the issue using state of the art equipment. He got us up and running quickly and scheduled a day to come back and fix the problem (roots in the sewer line). That was done just like he said he would and we didn’t even have to be there. Harley was very professional, did what he said he would do, when he said he would do it and we feel his prices were very fair. We are from a small town and have grown to expect this kind of service. We never expected to find this in a large metropolitan area, but that’s exactly what we got with Whitestone Plumbing. We highly recommend this business and will not hesitate to call again for our plumbing needs.

The pricing was very reasonable, and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend Whitestone Plumbing to anyone looking for a reliable, honest, and professional plumber.

It was such an easy experience, and he was just a really nice person overall. He took care of the issue right away and even mentioned he wouldn’t charge me if he wasn’t able to unclog my toilet, which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend Whitestone Plumbing!

Ben was amazing! He showed up exactly when he said he would. Was courteous and professional and answered all my questions. He was able to clear a drain that someone else wasn't able to clear. He located the issue (my AC drains to that sink!), worked hard to clear the clog, then showed me how I could do maintenance to keep it clear. VERY fair pricing as well. Would definitely call him again!

Best plumber ever. My instance Whitestone was 1/2 of the quotes i got from 3 others. Previous home owners had installed a water softener and done the piping themselves. It was poorly done, overly complicated and looked like hammered crap. I sent Whitestone pics of the spaghetti install. Whitestone replaced and upgraded the pvc nightmare to copper. As an aside, i don't normally trust service repair persons to be there when I am not home. I had no issues with Whitestone. Would easily give them the key and let them work when I wasn't home. Also, they cleaned up their mess. I have had electricians and plumbers make a mess, leave it, and insist it's not their problem. Whitestone treated my home like their own.

Leak Detection in Cedar Park, TX

High water bills are often the first indicator that a silent leak is occurring somewhere in your plumbing system. Even a tiny pinhole leak in a pressurized water line can lose a significant amount of water over a month. We begin our process by checking your water meter to confirm the rate of water loss. Our technicians then systematically test different zones of your home to narrow down the location. We use electronic equipment to “listen” for the sound of escaping water through various materials. This precision allows us to avoid the “guess and check” method that leads to excessive drywall repair. Identifying the problem early prevents the high costs associated with long-term water waste.

Slab leaks are particularly common in the Cedar Park area due to the expansive clay soil and shifting foundations. When a pipe beneath your concrete floor fails, it can lead to cracks in your tiles or damp spots on your carpet. We use specialized ground microphones to detect the vibration of water moving through the soil under your house. Our team is highly skilled at differentiating between ambient noise and the specific frequency of a pressurized leak. Once the leak is found, we discuss the best repair options, such as a direct repair or a full line reroute. Fixing a slab leak quickly is essential for preventing further foundation movement and structural instability. We provide clear, upfront costs for these complex diagnostic and repair services.

Thermal imaging technology allows us to see temperature differences caused by moisture inside your walls and ceilings. Wet materials often appear cooler than dry ones due to the evaporation process occurring within the structure. This non-invasive method is excellent for finding leaks from upstairs bathrooms or failing roof drainage systems. We can scan entire rooms in minutes to identify the specific path that water is taking. This data helps us minimize the amount of drywall that needs to be removed for the eventual repair. Our technicians are trained to interpret these thermal maps with absolute accuracy for your peace of mind. Protecting your home’s interior finishes is a major goal of our professional detection service.

Pool and outdoor irrigation leaks can also contribute to unexplained water usage and soggy patches in your yard. We check the lines leading to your outdoor hose bibs and pool equipment to ensure they are watertight. Underground leaks in irrigation systems can go unnoticed for months while they erode the soil near your landscaping. We use pressure testing and tracer gases to find these buried issues with minimal disruption to your garden. Our team ensures that every outdoor connection is secure and functioning at peak efficiency for you. We provide honest recommendations on whether a simple patch or a larger pipe replacement is needed. Maintaining a leak-free exterior is vital for the long-term health of your property’s surroundings.

Electronic leak detection is far superior to traditional methods that involve tearing into your home based on a hunch. Our equipment can find leaks through several inches of concrete, wood, and insulation without any physical contact. This saves the homeowner time and the stress of dealing with a major construction zone in their living space. We take pride in the technical excellence of our diagnostic tools and our ability to use them effectively. Every detection job is handled with the care and attention to detail that our 5-star reputation demands. We ensure you have a full understanding of the findings before we move forward with any repairs. Trusting a professional ensures the problem is solved correctly the very first time.

Moisture meters help us verify the extent of the damage once a leak is discovered behind a surface. We check the saturation levels of your studs and subflooring to determine if mold remediation is necessary. Long-term leaks can lead to wood rot that weakens the frame of your house over several years. We provide a comprehensive report of the damage for your insurance records if you decide to file a claim. Our technicians work closely with you to ensure the drying process begins immediately after the leak is sealed. We prioritize your health and safety by addressing the secondary effects of water intrusion. You can count on Whitestone Plumbing for a thorough and professional approach to leak detection.

Ben Helton ensures that every leak detection specialist on our team follows a rigorous protocol for accuracy and service. We understand how stressful it is to know you have a leak but not know where it is located. Our mission is to provide clear answers and reliable solutions to restore your peace of mind quickly. We treat your home with the same respect we would give our own, ensuring a clean and professional experience. Our 20 years of experience in the Cedar Park area give us a deep understanding of local plumbing layouts. We are proud to be the top-rated choice for homeowners seeking honest and expert leak detection services. Your satisfaction is our highest priority from the moment you call until the job is finished.

A top-rated leak detection service is defined by the use of advanced, non-invasive technology and a commitment to accuracy. The best plumbers use a variety of tools, including thermal cameras and acoustic sensors, to avoid unnecessary damage to the home. Reliability is key, which means the technician takes the time to verify the findings through multiple testing methods. Clear and upfront pricing ensures the homeowner feels respected and informed before any repair work begins. A 5-star service provider is licensed and insured, meeting all professional standards for residential diagnostics in the community. Good communication helps the customer understand exactly where the leak is and what the best repair options are. Professionalism includes arriving on time, wearing shoe covers, and leaving the job site clean after the investigation. Ultimately, a local owner who stands behind the accuracy of their detection work provides the accountability that homeowners deserve.

Most Common Leak Detection Questions

Identifying the source of a leak can be a complex process for any homeowner. Here are the most common questions we hear regarding professional leak detection and moisture management in our local area.

An unexplained spike in your water bill is one of the most reliable signs that you have a hidden leak. Even a small, continuous leak in a toilet or a pinhole in a main line can waste hundreds of gallons a day. We recommend checking your water meter when no one is using water in the house to see if the dial is moving. If the meter is spinning, it confirms that water is escaping somewhere in the system after the meter. Our technicians use advanced equipment to track down the exact location of this lost water. We provide an honest assessment and clear pricing to fix the issue and lower your monthly bills.

Leaking toilets are a frequent cause of high bills and are often silent and hard to notice without a test. You can put a few drops of food coloring in the tank and see if it appears in the bowl after ten minutes. If it does, the flapper is leaking and needs to be replaced by a professional plumber. We also check the fill valve and overflow tube to ensure the toilet isn’t running constantly. For leaks hidden behind walls or under the foundation, we use specialized acoustic sensors to listen for the leak. Our goal is to stop the water waste and protect your home from long-term moisture damage. You can trust our 20 years of experience to find the root cause of your high water usage.

In some cases, the high bill may be due to a leak in the service line between the meter and your home. This can lead to soggy patches in your lawn or a drop in your indoor water pressure. We use tracer gases or ground microphones to locate these exterior leaks without digging up your entire yard. Finding the leak early prevents it from eroding the soil under your driveway or foundation. Our team provides a 5-star service experience by solving these invisible problems with technical precision. We help you understand the findings so you can make an informed decision about the repair. Keeping your water bills low and your plumbing airtight is our primary concern for every client.

A slab leak occurs when a water pipe beneath your concrete foundation fails and begins to release water. Common signs include warm spots on your floor, especially if you have tile or laminate flooring installed. You might also notice a damp or musty smell that persists even after you have cleaned the room. If you hear the sound of running water when all your faucets are turned off, it is a serious indicator of a leak. In extreme cases, water may start to seep up through the floorboards or the base of your walls. We use non-invasive acoustic equipment to pinpoint the exact location of the break under the concrete.

Slab leaks can cause the soil beneath your home to expand or wash away, leading to foundation cracks. You might see new cracks in your drywall or doors that no longer close properly due to house settling. We recommend calling us for a professional inspection the moment you suspect a problem with your foundation plumbing. Our technicians provide an honest recommendation on whether to break the slab for a direct repair or reroute the line. Rerouting is often a cleaner and more long-term solution for older homes with multiple plumbing issues. We use our experience to help you choose the option that fits your budget and protects your property. Your home’s structural integrity is our highest priority during these complex service calls.

Ignoring a slab leak can lead to astronomical water bills and thousands of dollars in foundation repair costs later. The moisture also attracts pests like termites and can lead to dangerous mold growth under your flooring. We provide a thorough diagnostic report that explains our findings and the best path forward for your family. Our team is licensed and insured, ensuring that the detection and repair process is handled professionally and safely. We have over 20 years of experience navigating the unique slab designs found in Cedar Park and Austin. You can rely on Whitestone Plumbing for a 5-star response to your most challenging underground plumbing emergencies. We are here to help you protect your biggest investment with expert care.

Yes, we can often find a leak behind a shower wall using thermal imaging and moisture meters without damaging your tile. A thermal camera detects temperature differences that occur when water saturates the wall studs and insulation behind the surface. This allows us to see the exact footprint of the moisture and where it is originating from the pipes. We also check the grout and caulking for any physical gaps that might be allowing water to seep behind the wall. Our goal is to be as non-invasive as possible during the diagnostic phase to save you money on repairs. We provide a clear explanation of the source before any demolition work is discussed for your home.

Shower leaks are frequently caused by failing shower valves or old copper pipes that have developed pinhole leaks. These leaks can go unnoticed for a long time because the tile masks the moisture until it reaches the floor below. We use electronic sensors to listen for the hiss of water escaping from the pressurized lines behind the wall. Once the leak is found, we can often make a repair through the wall on the opposite side of the shower. This prevents us from having to break expensive and hard-to-match tile inside the shower stall itself. Our technicians are experts at finding these creative and cost-effective solutions for our neighbors. We prioritize preserving the beauty and value of your bathroom throughout the process.

If the leak is coming from the shower pan or the drain, we perform a static flood test to verify the integrity. We plug the drain and fill the base of the shower with water to see if the moisture levels increase in the surrounding areas. This helps us differentiate between a supply line leak and a drainage failure, which require very different repairs. Our 5-star service includes a thorough investigation of every possible source to ensure we provide a permanent fix. We offer free estimates once the leak is located and provide clear, honest pricing for the necessary work. Trust Whitestone Plumbing to handle your shower and bathroom leaks with the highest level of technical skill. We are dedicated to providing the best plumbing diagnostics in the local area.

A professional leak detection visit usually takes between one and three hours, depending on the complexity of the plumbing. For a simple faucet or toilet leak, we can often identify the problem within thirty minutes of arriving. However, finding a hidden slab leak or a moisture issue behind several walls requires more time and specialized equipment. We work systematically through your home to ensure we haven’t missed any secondary leaks in the system. Our technicians arrive with all the necessary tools to complete a thorough investigation in a single visit for you. We value your time and work efficiently to provide the answers you need as quickly as possible.

The size of your property and the number of plumbing fixtures also play a role in the total duration of the service. A large home with multiple bathrooms and an outdoor pool will naturally take longer to inspect than a small apartment. We communicate with you throughout the process to keep you updated on our progress and any findings we make. If we find a leak, we spend extra time explaining the repair options and providing an accurate cost estimate. Our goal is to give you a complete picture of your plumbing’s health before we leave your property. We never rush the diagnostic phase because accuracy is the most important part of our job as your plumber. You can count on a professional and timely experience when you choose our locally owned company.

After the leak is found, the time required for the actual repair will depend on the location and severity of the break. Some minor repairs can be handled immediately, while others may need a separate scheduled appointment for more extensive work. We provide a clear timeline for any necessary repairs so you can plan your schedule accordingly. Our 20 years of experience allow us to accurately predict the labor required for almost any plumbing scenario. We stay on schedule and arrive at our appointments consistently to respect your busy daily routine. Getting your home back to a dry and safe condition is our primary mission during every service call we make. We are committed to providing a 5-star experience from the initial detection until the final repair is finished.

Homeowners insurance often covers the cost of leak detection if the leak is sudden, accidental, and results in covered property damage. Most policies will pay for a professional to find a leak if it is hidden behind a wall or under a slab. They also typically cover the cost of accessing the pipe, such as removing drywall or breaking concrete, and the subsequent restoration. However, the actual repair of the plumbing pipe itself is usually considered a maintenance item and is paid for by the homeowner. We recommend calling your insurance agent to verify the specific details of your coverage before we begin the work. We provide detailed documentation and photos of the leak to help you with your insurance claim.

If the leak was caused by long-term neglect or a known issue that was ignored, the insurance company may deny the claim. That is why it is so important to call a professional at the first sign of a moisture problem or high bill. We provide a 5-star service that includes professional reporting that insurance adjusters can use to process your claim correctly. Our technicians describe the failure in technical terms that align with industry standards for insurance processing. We can also refer you to trusted local restoration experts if the water damage is extensive in your home. Our focus is on the plumbing, but we help you navigate the entire recovery process with honest advice. Having a licensed plumber on-site provides the professional verification that most insurance companies require.

We have worked with many insurance carriers in the Cedar Park and Austin areas and understand their documentation needs. We make sure that all work is done to code, which is another requirement for maintaining your insurance coverage. Our team provides clear and honest pricing so you can manage your out-of-pocket costs for the pipe repair itself. We believe in transparency and want you to feel confident in the financial side of your plumbing project. Protecting your property from further loss is a proactive step that insurance companies value from homeowners. We are here to make a stressful situation much easier for you to handle through expert service and clear communication. Trust Whitestone Plumbing to be your professional advocate during any major leak detection and repair project.

A static leak test is used to determine if a home’s drainage or sewer system is losing water underground. We plug the main sewer line and fill the entire drainage system with water up to the level of the lowest shower or floor drain. We then monitor the water level for a specific period to see if it drops, which would indicate a leak in the pipes. This test is essential for identifying issues in non-pressurized lines that wouldn’t show up on a standard pressure test. We often perform this test during home inspections or when a slab leak is suspected but the supply lines are tight. Our technicians are backflow licensed and certified to handle these complex tests safely and accurately for you.

If the water level drops during a static test, it confirms that there is a breach somewhere in the drainage infrastructure. We then use sewer cameras and inflatable plugs to isolate different sections of the line to find the exact location of the failure. This systematic approach allows us to find leaks under the slab without having to guess or perform unnecessary digging. Static testing is a vital tool for ensuring that your home’s waste system is not contaminating the soil or undermining your foundation. We provide a detailed report of the test results and a clear plan for any necessary repairs we find. Our 20 years of experience ensure that we can interpret the results of a static test with absolute precision.

This type of testing is often required by local building departments when a major plumbing renovation is being performed. It provides a “snapshot” of the system’s integrity and ensures that all new work is properly connected and watertight. We handle the entire testing process from setup to final verification to make it easy for our clients. Our 5-star service commitment means we use the best equipment and follow the most rigorous testing standards in the industry. We provide honest answers and elite technical care for every neighbor we help in the Cedar Park community. You can rely on us for a professional and thorough evaluation of your home’s entire plumbing system. Trust Whitestone Plumbing for the most reliable leak detection and testing services available in Central Texas.

Yes, a significant water leak in your yard can absolutely impact the stability of your home’s foundation over time. In the Cedar Park area, the soil contains high levels of clay, which expands and contracts significantly based on moisture content. A large leak from an irrigation line or the main water service can saturate the soil near your foundation and cause it to swell unevenly. This uneven pressure leads to foundation heaving, which can result in cracks in your walls, floors, and brickwork. Finding and fixing outdoor leaks is just as important for your home’s structural health as fixing a leak indoors. We provide professional detection for all underground water lines on your property for your peace of mind.

Conversely, a leak that has been occurring for a long time can wash away the supporting soil from under your foundation. This creates “voids” or empty spaces where the concrete slab is no longer supported by the earth. Without proper support, the foundation will eventually sink into these voids, leading to major structural failure and expensive repairs. We use specialized equipment to detect these underground leaks before they cause noticeable damage to your home’s exterior. Our technicians look for signs of lush grass or soggy soil that indicate a buried pipe has failed somewhere. We provide honest recommendations on the best way to repair the line while minimizing the impact on your yard. Protecting your biggest investment starts with ensuring that the ground beneath it remains stable and dry.

A leak in the yard can also attract pests like ants and termites that are seeking out a consistent moisture source near your home. These pests can then migrate from the wet soil into your home’s structure, leading to even more expensive repairs. Our 5-star service includes a thorough check of your entire property’s plumbing infrastructure to identify these hidden risks. We use non-invasive technology to find buried leaks so you don’t have to deal with a torn-up yard or a muddy mess. We offer free estimates and clear, honest pricing for all outdoor leak detection and repair services in the local community. Ben Helton and our team are dedicated to providing the best plumbing and safety solutions for our neighbors. Trust Whitestone Plumbing to keep your home’s foundation and surroundings in top condition for years to come.

The best way to prevent leaks is to have a professional plumber perform a comprehensive inspection of your system at least once a year. We check for signs of corrosion, high water pressure, and aging fixtures that are prone to failure over time. During an inspection, we look at your water heater, shut-off valves, and all visible piping for any early indicators of a problem. Catching a weak joint or a failing valve early is much cheaper than dealing with an emergency flood in the middle of the night. We provide an honest report of our findings and help you prioritize any necessary preventative maintenance for your home. Our 20 years of experience allow us to spot the issues that others might miss during a quick walkthrough.

High water pressure is a leading cause of leaks in many Cedar Park neighborhoods and should be monitored closely. If your pressure is above 80 PSI, it puts immense stress on your pipe joints, valves, and water-using appliances every single day. We can install a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) to keep your home’s water at a safe and consistent level for your plumbing. This simple device can significantly extend the lifespan of your entire system and prevent sudden pipe bursts or pinhole leaks. We include a pressure check as part of our standard service to ensure your home is protected from this silent threat. Investing in a PRV is one of the most cost-effective ways to avoid expensive water damage and repair bills. Our team provides expert installation and clear pricing for all pressure-related plumbing solutions.

Installing a smart leak detection system is another great way to protect your home from unexpected water damage and high bills. These devices monitor the flow of water in your home and can alert you on your smartphone if they sense a leak. Some advanced models can even shut off your main water valve automatically to prevent a flood while you are away from home. We can help you choose and install the right technology to provide an extra layer of security for your family. Our 5-star service commitment includes helping our customers stay ahead of plumbing problems through education and innovation. We are proud to be the trusted choice for modern plumbing solutions in the local Cedar Park community. Trust Whitestone Plumbing for the best advice and service on how to keep your home leak-free and safe.
